K-ETA has been temporarily exempted to 22 countries/regions including Norway until December 31, 2025 (KST). Those who are subject to the exemption will get a pop-up message when they select their nationality during the application.
K-ETA is for nationals of 67 visa waiver countries and nationals of 45 designated visa-free countries. K-ETA is required for foreign nationals who intend to enter the Republic of Korea for tourism, visiting relatives, participating in events or meeting, and business purposes other than profitable activities. This does not apply to travelers holding a visa.
Please be noted that K-ETA is not assessed/approved by the Embassy. Since it is K-ETA center under the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Korea which assesses/approves K-ETA applications, you may contact K-ETA center through the K-ETA official website [Notice - Questions] 'Ask Us' or call +82-2-2666-0463 for K-ETA related inquiries.
The applicant can check the result by [official website/app] - [K-ETA Application Results], within 72 hours after completing the K-ETA application. However, it can take more than 72 hours due to an unexpected increase of applications, the ircumstances of the applicants etc.
With K-ETA being implemented on September 1, 2021, those who used to enter Korea visa-free should apply for K-ETA. The airline may reject to issue the boarding pass if the nationals of the K-ETA required countries do not have a valid K-ETA.
Those who enter Korea visa-free via K-ETA can stay up to the visa-free sojourn period granted to their country per visit.
Those under 17 and over 65 are exempt from K-ETA.
It is not allowed for those who enter Korea with K-ETA to change the status of stay in principal. But, if you want to check the possibility, contact the (+82)1345 Immigration Contact Center.
The validity period of a K-ETA is 3 years from the date of approval. However, if the passport used for the K-ETA application expires in less than 3 years, that K-ETA approval will be valid until the passport expiration date. Even if you are entering the Republic of Korea again within the validity of your K-ETA, you must update any changes to your purpose of entry, address in Korea or contact information through the K-ETA website [Check K-ETA Results - Edit Information] before entering Korea.
If your K-ETA application had been disapproved once, it will be of no use to apply again unless there is a special change in circumstances.
If your purpose of visit falls under K-ETA, you can enter the country via K-ETA without a visa. If your purpose of visit is employment, study, immigration, etc., you need to obtain an appropriate visa at the Embassy, not K-ETA.
Please note that the address of the one and only official website operated by the government of the Republic of Korea is 'www.k-eta.go.kr'.
Some non-official websites were recently found demanding a higher application fee. As relevant damage incidents have been reported, please be cautious about non-official websites, agencies, etc.
The K-ETA application fee is 10,000 KRW/per person (around 9~10 USD, additional fees excluded).
